Our Story
How We Met
We met in 2014 during our Sophomore year at Cornell...our eyes met across the pong table and as they say, the rest is history! Our first "official" date was at a pizza restaurant in NYC, where we spent hours talking and wandering the streets of Manhattan. We quickly realized what we had was something special. After college we moved to California, and eventually moved in together and then down to the beach in Santa Cruz. Over the last decade, we've been building a life together with our fur babies, going on countless adventures, and travelling the world together - from backpacking in the Grand Canyon to exploring the Highlands of Scotland and swimming with Manta Rays in Hawaii. Taking this next step of becoming husband and wife will be another exciting adventure and we are so excited to celebrate with you in Cape May!
The Proposal
For our 9-year anniversary, we splurged on a trip to Hawaii. Earlier that year for Valentine's Day, Jake had taken Sarah to look at engagement rings at a local jeweler in Santa Cruz. The question was...when and where would he ask? For the first few days in Hawaii, we could both feel the excitement of what was soon coming, Jake trying to find the perfect moment to ask and Sarah wondering if every pitstop or activity would be it. While exploring the Big Island, we decided to stop at a secluded rainforest for a quick hike. There was a beautiful stream surrounded by tropical plants and singing birds. Jake realized it wouldn't get better than this and as we crossed the stream, he popped the question!
