William and Caroline likely met during an ice breaker in freshman year home room in 2012, but this is not where their love story begins.
While their paths overlapped and the foundation of their friendship was built in high school, their love story is not the classic of a football player and cheerleader becoming high school sweethearts.
William and Caroline's story really starts 5 years later in 2017. They spent the summer hiking, at bonfires, and stargazing.
As the leaves changed and summer became fall, William embarked on his journey with the Marine Corps and Caroline returned to Duquesne, and most importantly they remained "just friends."
They spent the next three months texting about school, runs, and separate dating lives.
Home for the holidays, their love story began when two underaged and over served best friends decided to kiss. And the rest is history.
William and Caroline both have a strong admiration for America’s National Parks.
When William was ten years old, the Amidon’s went on a family vacation to Acadia National Park in Maine. While on the trip, the Amidon’s explored the beauty of the top Cadillac Mountain during sunrise. Ten years old, and a budding romantic, William made the decision he’d propose to his future wife there.
Fifteen years later, William, a man with a plan, woke Caroline up at three o’clock in the morning to hike through the Maine forest and darkness to the top of Cadillac Mountain for sunrise. With bagels and coffees in hand, they reached the top and were met with two hours worth of fog.
When William’s plan A failed, he decided to play it safe for plan B. Plan B involved a simple evening with pizza for dinner and watching the sun set on the island. With renewed confidence, William took Caroline to Bass Harbor Lighthouse and dropped down on one knee.
