Our Story
How We Met
Our love story began in the most unexpected way—during the pandemic. In the early days of COVID-19, when everything felt uncertain and isolating, we both found solace in spending time with mutual friends at Hanssen’s college apartment. With limited options of entertainment and an outside life, Hanssen and I spent most of our days getting to know each other. We found comfort in each others company, and enjoyed our passing days listening to each others stories of our lives before we locked down, playing Nintendo games, and watching movies.
As restrictions eased, we found that we did not want to separate from each other's lives. We spent our nights out in the Old Port with our friends, enjoying what felt like a first time freedom. It was during this time that Hanssen and I agreed that what had started as a comforting friendship had turned into something much more.
Now, we’re excited to celebrate our journey and the incredible bond that we have built with you at our wedding!
The Proposal
Our proposal story happened aboard The Wonder of the Sea's cruise ship! Our vacation conveniently aligned with our 4 year anniversary, which we both agreed we wanted to find a special way to celebrate. Our anniversary was one of the last days aboard the boat, so the night before, Hanssen and I decided to star gaze while the boat was drifting through the middle of the ocean. Although I would like to say I had an idea it might be coming, the proposal took me by total surprise. It was such a special moment for the two of us.
