Our Story
How We Met
Our love story begins like many modern fairy tales... online.
After countless left swipes, we both swiped right in the early summer of 2018. A couple long conversations, countless laughs, and many texts led to our first date. We met up at Bricktown Brewery in Tulsa on July 20, 2018. By Christmas of 2018, D.J. and Kolton were bonding over video games and their shared love of picking on Brittney. By summer of 2019, we had celebrated our 1st anniversary. The first year was filled with long hours at work, school plays, gym selfies and an all around good time. By September 2019, Brittney and Kolton made the move from Bartlesville down to Broken Arrow to be with D.J. full time. It was high time to stop the hour plus commute. on October 30, 2019, Brittney gave D.J. the surprise of his lifetime. They were having a baby! In February of 2020, we found out we were having a girl. Savannah Rose was born on June 27, 2020 and our family was complete.
On May 31, 2021, D.J. gave Brittney the surprise of her lifetime. He (finally) proposed!
Throughout our relationship, we have each endured the loss of several family members, job changes, health struggles and anything else life can bring. We have remained strong and sure in our love. Confident that we can handle anything that happens as long as we're together.
in April 2024, we purchased our first home in Broken Arrow.
The Proposal
D.J. pulled off the surprise of Brittney's life on May 31, 2022. During a very rare date night, D.J. conspired with Brittney's mom, Beverly to get her fancy done up. We hadn't had a decent date night since Savannah was born. We get big fancy. Reservations were made for RedRock Canyon Grill in Jenks. We were gonna start there and see where we ended up. We both dress all the way up. Britt gets hair, nails, face fully glammed. We are headed to restaurant when D.J. tells Britt to go park on the Jenks river walk. We can hang out for a bit before dinner. It's gorgeous outside and we haven't had a moment's peace in almost 2 years and we have some time to kill before our reservation. So, We go river walking down by the river. We end up stopping on a bench just catching up on all the life that's happened, Big plans, dreams, hopes and our future. D.J. finally pulls out the ring he's been hiding in his pocket after an ecstatic YES!
We take some pics and head to the restaurant all teary-eyed and smiling. D.J. had another surprise. He had a friend set up our table and deliver some gorgeous flowers. It was perfect.
