How We Met
We first met in the fall of 2021 at Northwest Nazarene University, when Trent had just transferred to NNU and when Kaitlyn was dealing with medical issues. Kaitlyn's father, Troy, was on campus to be her shadow. One day, Trent was eating alone at the cafeteria, and Troy saw him and invited him over to eat with him and Kaitlyn.
This was the first time we met (Thanks Troy), but we officially started dating November 16, 2022.
The Proposal
Trent proposed to Kaitlyn at a small garden area called Cleo's Ferry Museum, which is along the Snake River. We walked along the trail towards an outlook of the river, where Trent had rose petals set up in the shape of a heart and a bouquet of roses. As we walked up and stood on opposite sides of the rose petals, Trent got down on one knee and said:
"317 days ago, I asked you to be my girlfriend, and it was the best question I've ever asked. You've shown me love in a way I never could have imagined, and I love you more than words could ever express. So I took you back to where we took the picture described as 'future,' because I want ours to be together. Now I'm hoping that question I asked 317 days ago will be the second best question I've asked. So, Kaitlyn Sundermeyer, will you marry me?"
She said yes.
