Directions
From Saratoga: From Broadway heading South, turn left onto Washington Street/NY-29E. Continue to follow RT-29E for 10.8 miles. Turn left onto Antioch Road which becomes Clark Road. Go about two miles and the dirt driveway to Brookledge is on the left corner at the intersection.
From Albany: Merge onto I-90 W toward Buffalo. Merge onto I-890 W via exit 25 toward Schenectady RT-7/RT-146. Take exit 4C to RT-5/Scotia. At traffic light turn left onto State Street/RT-5W. Continue over bridge into Scotia/RT-5. Turn slight right at RT-147/Sacandaga Road and continue for 17 miles. Turn right at RT-29. Turn slight left at Antioch Road which becomes Clark Road. Go about two miles and the driveway to Brookledge is on the left corner at the intersection.
From Schenectady: Take State Street heading W toward downtown Continue over bridge into Scotia/RT-5W. Turn slight right at RT-147/Sacandaga Road and continue for 17 miles. Turn right at RT-29. Turn slight left at Antioch Road which becomes Clark Road. Go about two miles and the driveway to Brookledge is on the left corner at the intersection.
From Johnstown: Take NY-29E. Turn left onto Benzal Rd (Village Pizzeria) which becomes Clark Road. Go about 1 mile and the driveway to Brookledge is on the left corner at the intersection.

Hike Spruce Mountain Firetower

Of course Shel had to recommend a hike! This trail is a 25 minute drive from downtown Saratoga.
The 73-foot fire tower on the 2009 foot summit of Spruce Mountain was built in 1928 and manned until 1988. The summit is only accessible by NYS DEC marked 1.2-mile hiking trail.
The trail crosses an old concrete culvert over a stream then immediately climbs. The total elevation gain is about 1000 feet over this 1.2-mile hike. The trail is well marked with yellow DEC discs.
