Our Story

How We Met

Shelby and Lucas first met in 2019, but it wasn't love at first sight...

Lucas was in town for a Lake Erie Alumni game and introduced himself to Shelby. However, his warm hello wasn’t well received because she was under the impression they met the night before. As many people do Shelby got Lucas confused with his older brother Mitchell.

Although Lucas and Shelby often found themselves in the same social circles, their paths seemed to never quite align.

Fast forward to June 27, 2020. Luke was visiting in Cleveland, and once again, Shelby and Lucas found themselves in the same place at the same. Later that night they both went out with their group of friends and they shared a shot of Rumple Minze, and from that moment on, they never looked back.

Despite living in Buffalo at the time, Lucas moved to Cleveland a month later, driven by a growing crush on Shelby.

The Proposal

August 26th started as an ordinary Saturday afternoon, but Shelby was in for a big surprise. Lucas suggested they spend the day at the Flats in downtown Cleveland, a favorite spot of Shelby's. Their plan was to bar hop and end the night with dinner on the water.

When they arrived downtown, Lucas was excited to show Shelby the restaurant where they would be eating at later. Shelby found this odd, expecting to see it only at dinner, but she went along with Lucas's enthusiasm. Close to the restaurant is Settlers Landing, which has an amazing view of the city and fountain area in the heart of the Flats. Lucas pretended to stumble upon this area and suggested they take a walk there.

As they walked towards the foundation, Shelby's curiosity grew. She subtly checked Lucas's back pocket for a ring box but found nothing, and then assumed this was just another of their many walks. Little did she know, Lucas had cleverly hidden the ring box in his front pocket. And the rest, as they say, is history...
