Our Story

How We Met

Every love story is special, but theirs is a story of how God brought two of His people in need of each other together, forever! As always, He made something very good out of it. They met at work at Wegmans in August of 2022. Alex could not keep himself from talking to Cyndi casually in the aisles for months! Until one day one specific task brought out an almost 2 hour long conversation between the two of them! A few weeks later Alex asked Cyndi to a Halloween party where they spent the night getting to know each other and from that came their first official date, Dave and Busters. They spent their night playing Connect 4, basketball, and Skee ball and made their way around the mall while creating timeless inside jokes. On their second date, they took a hike down to Devil's Hole state park. While creating even more inside jokes, they found a rock to sit on and talk for several hours about their faiths, their goals, and their outlooks on life. It also may have been where they held hands for the first time! It only took a couple more dates and about two weeks time for Alex to ask Cyndi to be his girlfriend at the West Canal Marina. And on November 16, 2022, she of course said yes! And as romantic as Alex is, he asked her to dance in that empty parking lot with him. If you happen to hear "Slow Dance in a Parking Lot" by Jordan Davis at their wedding, that's the song they danced to!
God is really amazing and He hears the prayers and cries of His people. Psalms 37:4 says to "take delight in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart." Every day we thank God for His delivered promises and good plans, and that is no more evident than in Him bringing Cyndi and Alex together!

The Proposal

All it took was 16 months of dating for Alex to pop the question! Only 16 months of dating, but for Alex, he knew as soon as 3 months in that Cyndi was his forever! And like the romantic and sentimentalist he is, the proposal was in similar fashion to their dating story! On March 24, 2024, the wait was finally over! The couple began their day at church, and throughout the day they moved forward in the plans that only Alex knew. As their first date happened at Dave and Busters, there he took her and they walked around the mall. From there, this dedicated man drove from Cheektowaga to Lewiston to take Cyndi for a walk at Devils Hole, where they romantically recapped that involved date early on. It’s worth mentioning, Cyndi had suspicions all day and in her words: “I had a tummy ache all day!” But once they returned back to Alex’s house to get ready for dinner with friends, suspicions died out and a sense of disappointment arose. After dinner was over, he asked her if she would want to go back to the place where he asked her to be his girlfriend, at the West Canal Marina. Of course she said yes, and that suspicions tummy ache came right back! They got out of the car to dance to that Jordan Davis song once again, and Alex queued up “Marry You” by Bruno Mars. As soon as that song began to play, Alex pulled the ring out of his pocket and got down on one knee and asked Cyndi for forever! It was at this point Cyndi began hyperventilating and blacked out. But between the deep breaths, she does remember saying yes! They took some pictures around the marina with the photographer, and went back to Alex’s house. And to Cyndi’s surprise, he threw together an amazing, last minute, engagement party full of people they love! Champagne was popped, toasts were made, love and best wishes were given, and the couple talked for the rest of the night all about Alex’s plans and that lead up! Prayers were answered and forever was now in sight!
Gods provisions for His people are evident everywhere! And in this couple’s story, it is completely painted with God’s perfect love and perfect plan. Marriage is the second most important relationship we can have here on this earth, and the second purest gift we could ever receive. These two are so excited to receive this gift of marriage and to emulate the relationship of Christ and His church, as marriage was designed to be!
