Our Story

How We Met

We first met each other at a movie night party to watch Cruella on Disney Plus, everyone but us and two of our friends were running late so we ended up getting to talk a lot that night. Both of us were going to the same university at the time in different majors and years. A few nights later we hung out again and it became almost a tradition to watch movies together each week. One day after I took one of my exams I was very nervous about my grade, so I called my mom and she suggested hanging out with one of my friends. She asked if I had anyone I could hang out with to get my mind off of it and the first name that I thought of was Zach's. So I called him up and we spent most of the night watching movies after one of them I jokingly said, "Wouldn't it be funny if we got together like everyone thinks we will and told no one". We laughed about it for a bit until Zach asked if I was serious and when I told him I was he asked me to be his girlfriend.

The Proposal

I first knew that I wanted to marry Avery from the moment I met her. It was only a matter of time before I proposed to her and it required a little bit of help. I knew from the start that I had to catch her by surprise seeing as how I've never been able to sneak up on her since the beginning of our relationship. However, to catch her by surprise I needed someone on the inside to distract and confuse her or she would see it coming from a mile away. I ended up recruiting Sarah, her roommate, into my elaborate scheme that involved graduation photos and a birthday weekend. The plan was simple, Avery’s parents were going to be coming down to take graduation photos with Sarah and Avery in Tyler. This gave Avery a reason to dress up because she always told me to never let her get proposed to in sweatpants. Then I was to meticulously join them after going to the movies with a couple of friends of mine that I made with in Tyler. Avery had already known about this since I'd been telling her for weeks that I was going to the movies in Tyler. What she didn't know was that I lied about going to the movies and that her family was only there to watch her proposal. It was also Sarah's birthday weekend which just added another layer of distraction from what was actually going to happen. After jumping through all of these hoops it just came down to me and the rest is history.
