Our Story
How We Met
We originally met in 2016, the first week of college at TAMUCC. Rodney and his friend decided to sit by my friend and I in history class. I thought he was being a little too friendly, and moved away from him in class. I ended up transferring to Texas A&M, and luckily we stayed in touch through social media. After a couple years, we both graduated from college. Rodney was working hard to establish his career, and I was in nursing school in San Angelo. Rodney reached out again, saying he was ready to give us and long distance a shot! We went on a couple dates, and officially began dating on October 31, 2021!!
The Proposal
We were in Corpus for a regular weekend trip so Rodney could go fishing with his buddy, and I could have girl time with Dominique. We all went to dinner at the art museum in downtown Corpus. After that Rodney and I planned to take Dolly to the beach for her first time, and to get some pictures for our house. Rodney made sure I wore a cute dress and left all the things at home. (I was trying to wear chacos, sunglasses, and bring my polaroid). We walked down the pier to the beach, and kept walking down the shore to see the sunset. There was one open spot with a guy taking photos of the ocean. Rodney stops in front of him and says, "let's pick up some shells." I'm like babe we are being rude, and go to show him the guy taking photos. At this point someone is coming to get Dollys leash, and I'm like who is this dude coming to touch my dog? I realize its Chase! and then I look up and the camera is on us! I turn to tell Rodney that Chase is here, and he is getting down on a knee!!! Of coarse I said yes, and we took allllll the photos. It was beautiful and perfect! After that Rodney said I had 2 minutes at the condo to get ready for a surprise. He took me to a restaurant, where my family and some of my closest friends were waiting to surprise me! Immediate tears started flowing when I saw them, and this is when it set in that we really did just get engaged!! I couldn't believe Rodney got all of this to happen, I mean Darian and Julia drove from OKLAHOMA... everyone was there all weekend and I had no idea! Afterward we went out with friends to celebrate! It was the most perfect engagement, and so special to happen where we first met!
