Our Story
How We Met
Our story began in August 2019 when we met at a wedding for mutual friends (one of whom will now be officiating for us!) in Kentucky. We instantly hit it off while in line for drinks and spent the rest of the night dancing together! About a month later, the Bills were playing in Nashville (where Shannon was living at the time), and Ryan was already planning to come down for the game. Naturally, we met up and spent the night on Broadway and going to some of Shannon's favorite "local" bars. Of course, the Bills won the game too! We continued to stay in touch and a few months later planned a spontaneous trip to Costa Rica which would officially be our "first date" (a weeklong first date - worth the risk!). Pretty soon after, the world shut down (thanks, Covid) and we were stuck in different cities but continued to stay in touch and talk every day. Once restrictions loosened, Shannon began driving back and forth from Nashville to Buffalo about every other month to see "family and friends" (sorry everyone, surprise - it was really just to see Ryan). After about a year and a half of going back and forth, she finally decided to move home to Buffalo. Luckily, that turned out to be the best decision as our relationship continued to grow, and the rest is history!
The Proposal
After a *very long* four years, Shannon finally got Ryan to crack! While on a trip to Acadia National Park in Maine, we woke up early and planned to hike Cadillac Mountain. The weather wasn't looking great, and Shannon had tried to postpone the hike, but Ryan was insistent they hike that day (of course, taking the longest route up). On we went and luckily the weather shifted, it turned into a beautiful day! About halfway back down the mountain, we stopped at a beautiful overlook for a "water break" but instead of a water bottle, Ryan took out a ring and popped the question! We are so excited for this next chapter of our lives and can't wait to celebrate with all of our family and friends!
