Our Story

How We Met

Garrett and I met at Pour Haus in New Braunfels of May 2021. It was Friday evening after a long week of school, and I was due for a cold beverage. That night I had planned on going to a concert in San Marcos with a few friends, but last minute I changed my mind. So instead, I met my friend Brooke at Pour Haus. We were just hanging out when Nate saw Brooke, he came over and said hello. He noticed there was a group of us sitting around the table, and an empty chair by me. Before this I had met Nate once. Nate called Garrett over and had him sit right next to me. Garrett says when he sat down, I was at the bar getting a refill. I still think I was sitting down, when he came over and sat down next to me. Who knows! I might've blacked out for a second because I had just laid eyes on my future husband. From that point, it was like nobody else was there. We were inseparable.

Garrett drove me home and as we pulled into the drive I asked, "Do you want to meet my dog?" Of course, he said yes. He came in and if you know Boo... she doesn't jump on any one unless you're taking her on a walk. Boo jumped on Garrett and that's when I knew!!!! We made plans to go on our first date the next day. We had the best time with each other, I was smitten. We knew we wanted to spend more time together, but Garrett was going to be out of town for the next few weekends. Completely caught off guard, he asked me if I wanted to go to East Bernard with him the next weekend. We knew each other for 2 days, but without hesitation I said yes! I didn't tell my dad though lol. There's no telling what he would've said. Probably, "Are you crazy?". We had an amazing weekend, everything just made sense.

After we came back home, Garrett and I grabbed lunch before we went our separate ways. As we were saying goodbye.... I told him I loved him. Totally mortified after I realized what I had just said. I couldn't look at him, I said bye and hopped in my car. I 100% meant what I said, it came out so natural I knew I really did love him. BUT I didn't think that's how I was going to tell him I loved him for the first time. I don't regret it one bit, because here we are months away from forever.

When I was young, I created a list of all the qualities I wanted in my future husband. Garrett has checked all of those boxes and more. I still can't fully wrap my head around how blessed I am to be loved by him. He is kind, driven, supportive, patient, and he has shown me unconditional love since the day we met. I can't wait to spend the rest of my life him.

The Proposal

On October 1st, 2022 Garrett asked Taylor to marry him at Landa Park Golf Course, hole 9 to be exact. When Garrett and Taylor met one of the first things they talked about was golf. For obvious reasons, Garrett is a pretty dang good golfer. Taylor on the other hand has some improving to do. The good part is, she is going to marry someone who knows a little about golf. Going to the course together is one of their favorite things to do. One week day Garrett asked Taylor if she wanted to play golf that coming Saturday, nothing new! Somehow the reservation was linked to Taylor's email. She noticed it had 4 people blocked off. So she took it upon herself to invite their friends Morgan and Kyle, since there was room. Also, nothing new. Which ended up working out. That morning they took Boo on a walk, cleaned the house, and went to the Christmas Market in downtown New Braunfels before heading to the course. Taylor said to Garrett "This day is just perfect!!" He was thinking you have no idea! They get to the course, and by hole 5 Taylor was over it, it was not her best golfing day. By hole 7 she was asking Garrett if they were going to golf all 18, and if they were her and Morgan were going to leave. Garrett told Taylor if you play the last two holes out we will leave. Which was the plan all along. She agreed. Kyle shot first and took off to the green to put the note Garrett wrote Taylor in the hole. Taylor still completely oblivious, putts walks over the hole, notices the note. Still not a clue in the world, finishes out the hole. Then picks up the note, reads it, and there Garrett was. It really was the most perfect day.
