Our Story
How We Met
On October 19th 2023, Erica McMurray (Justin's cousin, Rebecca's coworker & friend) posted a photo of the both of them on their break at work being silly & unwinding from a tough shift. She uploaded it that night to Facebook. On October 20th, 2023, Justin came across the phone on his newsfeed and reached out to his cousin, asking who the girl was in the picture with Erica. Justin then asked if Rebecca was comfortable talking to Justin and taking the time to get to know each other as she appeared to be a godly woman who was, and still is, extremely cute ;) when Rebecca was informed about this, she did not hesitate to agree to getting to know him as well. Most of their relationship was long distance, as Justin is in the Army National Guard, and was deployed to Syria from August 2023 to May 2024. It took a lot of courage, vulnerability, communication, trust, love and much more to make it work, but they both kept each other accountable for keeping God at the center, which made all of the challenges life threw at them more doable.
The Proposal
When Justin came back to the United States back in May 2024, the couple decided to go on a 3 week long vacation to rejuvenate from the physical, emotional and mental stress the both of them were facing in their own ways related to his deployment. For 10 days, Rebecca and Justin spent that vacation time in the Bahamas. On their last day, Justin was planning on taking Rebecca on a nice dinner night. He told her to get dressed up, get her nails and hair done (he was so patient sitting through the hours of pampering LOL). Rebecca had a slight idea what might have happened, as her and Justin had conversations about an engagement timeline. Once they arrived to dinner, there was a beautiful scenery with an ocean view. Rebecca had a wave of anticipation as she found out Justin hired a photographer to take professional pictures. She then began to put the pieces together as her husband is not that subtle (love you Justin). Once dinner was finished, Rebecca and Justin were escorted out to the dock to begin the photo shoot. At one point, when Rebecca was told to turn around, Justin got down on one knee. When Rebecca turned around, she saw Justin kneeling on the ground. Now what was exactly said was blurry, but even though Rebecca had a strong inclination, she began to sob, especially seeing the love of her life tearing up. Rebecca and Justin were eager to take this next step of marriage, so eager that they decided to have a smaller ceremony a couple months later, and officially became Mr. and Mrs. McMurray on October 19th, 2024. They wanted to throw a bigger celebration with all of their friends & family, so they are excited to announce a huge day of celebration including the renewal of vows and have a insanely fun PARTAY.
