Our Story
How We Met
Dan and Andrea met like most young couples - at a Public Access TV station. Andrea was fresh off graduating from the now extinct collegiate institution The New England Institute of Art. Dan, now working as a part-time News Producer, was just a few months removed from an illustrious two-week run at Home Depot asking people to renovate their kitchen.
When Andrea walked in the door of WCA-TV for the first time for her job interview, Dan was immediately smitten by this beautiful girl. After she was hired, Dan and Andrea slowly started to find they had some similar interests.
Then on July 6th, 2016, everything changed. This was the day that Pokemon Go was released. It was then that Dan and Andrea began meeting up multiple times per week before their shifts to walk around town catching em’ all. During their frequent catching sessions, the two became very close friends.
In the years that followed, Andrea and Dan would grow closer by playing video games, attending concerts, and going to the movies together. When they attended Taylor Swift’s Reputation World Tour together, Andrea started to develop feelings for Dan.
Finally, on one fateful visit to Portland’s Allagash Brewery, Dan sorta kinda let slip that he had feelings for Andrea. A few hours later Andrea told Dan of her feelings during a phone call that lasted until 3am. The rest, as they say, was history.
The two moved in with each other a few months later and eventually adopted their goofball dog Rufus.
The Proposal
On Presidents Day 2023, Dan put the least-subtle proposal plan of all-time into action.
Dan had set his sights on a beach proposal, so he asked Andrea if she “wanted to take a ride up the coast.” Andrea, already somewhat suspicious, said “sure.”
The two started their journey in Salisbury, where Andrea asked Dan if he wanted to have beach pizza for lunch. He initially said no (too nervous to eat) and suggested they pick some up on their way back (it was currently literally the ideal time to have lunch). Andrea grew further suspicious, but insisted they get some pizza.
After eating, they drove up towards Rye Beach. Andrea didn’t really know what they were doing at this point, so she asked Dan what the plan was. Dan exclaimed defensively “I have no plan!”
Finally Dan and Andrea - and Rufus - came across a secluded beach in Rye, NH. After throwing Rufus’ favorite ball around for a while, Dan “sneakily” got down on one knee to pop the question.
They returned to Christy’s Beach Pizza in Salisbury to take pictures.
