Our Story
How We Met
Antonia and Alex matched on Bumble in March of 2021 during the height of the pandemic. Our first date lasted 8 hours in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, including a bottle of Sancerre and ending with champagne flutes. We took turns bouncing between Brooklyn and Jersey City for dates, and after a few months, we were living close by (3 blocks away) in Ridgewood, Queens. In the summer of 2022 we moved in together to our current apartment.
The Proposal
In 2024, Alex and I went to Lisbon, Portugal, for a "vacation". This was one we had been planning for months and secretly aware that something big would happen. On the second day, after visiting an art museum, tasting pasteis de natas, getting stalked by peacocks in the botanical garden, and dining at our first Michelin Star restaurant together, Alex dropped to one knee in the middle of Praça do Comércio asking me to be his bride. Even though I thought it would happen on this trip I was still surprised and we shared tears of love and joy.
