Our Story
How We Met
We met at McDaniel College in the Fall of 2015. Nikki was a member of the Lacrosse Team and Chris was a member of the Baseball team. Both being athletes, we had many mutual friends but did not get to know each other on more personal basis until the Spring of 2016. We soon after realized that we could be more than just friends and began seeing each other on a daily basis. Nikki was a bit hesitant at first to give Chris a real chance but after some persistence and encouragement from friends, she finally gave in. That July 4th, while watching fireworks shoot into the sky, Chris asked Nikki if she wanted to officially begin dating and she could not have said yes any faster. The rest, as they say, is history!
The Proposal
I had in my mind that the summer of 2022 was when I was going to officially ask Nikki if she was cool with spending the rest of her life with me. Nikki and I have always had an affinity for Long Beach Island, NJ. It is where she first met my family and it holds a special place in our hearts as we spend many of our summer weekends there. I knew this was the perfect setting to ask her to marry me. After spending the day working from home together at my parents beach house, I asked Nikki if she wanted to take a walk on the beach before we went out to dinner. I purposely made the dinner reservation for a bit later (which Nikki hates) in order to have enough time to propose and subsequently take pictures. We took a stroll down to the beach around sunset (AKA Golden Hour) and after only being down there for about a minute, I dropped down on a knee to Nikki's "shock". We were both overcome with joy and emotion and spent the next hour taking pictures as the sun continued to set. It was the happiest moment of both of our lives.
