Our Story

How We Met

The year was 2015, Melanie attended your average senior year Halloween party at her girlfriends house. Joseph planned to stay home, but last minute he decided to tag along with his friend to a party, just so happened to be the same party Melanie was at.
The two of them spent the night chatting and laughing. Joseph kept telling her how funny she was, to which she replied “you blast my confidence to the moon”.
The next couple months were spent high-fiving in the brick halls of Sweet Home until they ended up at the same party again on New Years Eve!
They weren’t interested in talking to anyone else that night, only each other. They rang in the New Year together, still as friends, and continued to high-five in the halls until February 2016.
They finally had their first date at Tea Leaf Café, which soon became their favorite place.

The Proposal

It was early May, Cinco de Mayo to be exact. The air was crisp and the birds were chirping. Summer was right around the corner. Melanie was off to run some errands with her girlfriends, Meagan and Bethany.
First stop. Nail salon. ✔️
Next stop. The Delaware - for the best French onion soup around.
While Mel was out enjoying herself with her friends, Joe was in a nervous panic. Heart racing. His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy. The excited kind of nervous.
He was about to pop the question him and Melanie had been dreaming of for the last 7 years. He wanted her to be his partner, his happiness, the mother to his children, his wife.
Joe was secretly hanging lights, laying roses and lighting candles that would illuminate the walk way for Melanie to join him under the gazebo at the North Tonawanda Botanical Gardens later that evening.
After the soup was gone and the check was paid, the trio of girls were off to feed Bethany’s addiction to buying things off Facebook Marketplace…..or so Melanie thought….
Joe finished lighting the candles with the help of Jacob and Tyler, but they were running out of time. So, the “Facebook seller” (Tyler) messaged Bethany that she “needed a few minutes”.
DIVERSION! Bethany pulls over into the Walgreens parking lot. Meagan throws a dress, shoes and a hair brush at Melanie and says “I’m gonna need you to change for me really quick”.
A flood of emotions came over Melanie as she began to cry, knowing what was next to come. He was planning the most magical proposal for her.
Pulling into the parking lot and getting out of the car, Melanie could hear “their song” playing.
She opened her eyes to see the pathway lined with roses and shinning with candles. Under twinkling lights in the distance was her man, dressed ever so handsome, nervously pacing, waiting to ask her the question she had been waiting to hear.
Melanie walked up to Joseph, he took her hands and got down on one knee, and he asked her to be his wife.
Of course she said yes! Everything they had both been dreaming of was finally happening. They’re beginning their next chapter together.

The best is yet to come
