Our Story
How We Met
Michael and Hanna first met on a dating app! I know crazy! We had many late night phone calls before we were able to meet in person and it was all love from there. On one of those phone calls we were able to talk about the biggest part of each of our lives, our faith. Within this conversation we came to realize that we were both brought up raised in the same denomination of faith, Lutheran Missouri Synod. Hanna remembers telling her mom at her sister’s confirmation that she thought she had met someone very special. Our very first date was a local restaurant in town called Mezzaluna. We had a nice dinner there and then took Duke on a walk when later that night Michael asked Hanna to be his girlfriend! Within the next month Hanna had met Michael’s family and Michael had met Hanna’s family and shortly after they were looking at rings.
The Proposal
Michael along with many of Hanna’s close friends worked for months on planning the perfect proposal. Michael had lots of ideas written up on a sheet of paper of how he was going to pop the question. When the day came of course the Midwest winter storm had to join as well so a plan of proposing outside led to Michael surprising Hanna at home. Hanna’s friends had planned a bowling night out of the house so while Hanna was getting ready for a night out, little did she know that Michael along with all of her close friends from in and out of town were getting ready for the proposal. While Hanna was on the way to bowling, Michael got the house set up to ask the question with rose petals, lights, and champagne for after! Hanna had no idea what was going on but after a diversion to get her back to the house she was more than shocked to open the door to the biggest surprise of her life.
