How We Met
Hello Friends and Family!! We are so excited to have you join us for our big day! Lots of you are already in Colorado with us but some are traveling quite far to be with us and we are so grateful! Our wedding venue is called The Wilmont at Gold Mountain Ranch in Ouray Colorado. It’s a private mountain home on the top of the mountain so we will be providing transportation for guests to and from the venue and their hotels. Both the ceremony and reception will be held here. We will be at an elevation close to 10,000 ft. So for my sea level family please drink extra water and electrolytes and plan some time to rest and get acclimated. The hotels in town are at 8,000 ft elevation. Our wedding ceremony will begin at 4pm Thursday October 9th but we will start the shuttle at 1:30pm because it will take multiple trips to get everyone on site. So for those traveling please plan to be settled in Ouray the morning of the 9th. The shuttles main stopping point will be the hotel I’m recommending everyone stay at which is called the Ouray Inn. You are more than welcome to choose a different hotel and we can coordinate picking you up from there, just let us know when you RSVP! The theme of the wedding is fall (the colors should be in full bloom) and our style is very minimalistic, we are letting the venue and the view speak for itself! Our wedding is intimate with only 40 guests attending! Think rustic and family style with the word fancy nowhere in sight. We want our guests to feel comfortable and welcome! We will have a DJ and dance floor so we can dance the night away! We will be providing an open bar with beer/seltzer/wine/champagne. We are not providing any liquor but you are welcomed to bring your own if that’s what you prefer. We would like to remind our guests that at the elevation we will be at, drinks are double potent so please be aware and considerate. Our wedding is child free except for our immediate family. We have posted our wedding timeline under the schedule tab for you. Our main focus is celebrating the true love between Michael and Laura and we have left out many ‘traditions’ that don’t have meaning to us. You can expect a short ceremony, speeches at dinner, a first dance and cake cutting. Beyond that we just want to spend quality time with the people we love the most without too much forced organization. We will have non alcoholic drinks available, snack trays, and a simple dinner of lasagna, fettuccine Alfredo and salads as well as a dessert bar! We will try to provide all the information you need here on this website but if you have any questions or concerns please reach out to Laura or Michael and we would be happy to help! We look forward to welcoming you to our mountain paradise and showing you why we’re so happy to call this magnificent beauty home.
Here’s how we met:
Michael and I live in a rural area where meeting people to date can be challenging so we actually met on a dating app! Michael asked me on a date to our local restaurant Sips in Cedaredge and we connected instantly! We were both marriage minded and covered all the important topics before dinner was even over. We laughed and enjoyed each others company so much we were inseparable after that. Fun Fact: Some of my best friends ended up crashing our date to meet Michael and see what they thought of him! They liked him just as much as I did and welcomed him into our friend group.
The Proposal
Michael absolutely made all my dreams comes true with his proposal. I love telling this story because he worked so hard to make that moment special for me and I am eternally grateful! I have a great group of girl friends here in Colorado that I’m blessed to spend time with and we would have weekly get togethers that sometimes had a theme. The girls messaged me we would be meeting Friday September 13th 2024 at Sips and the theme was Homecoming/Prom which meant we were all getting dressed up very nicely! We were meeting to get ready together and do each others hair, but I hadn’t had time to find the perfect outfit because I had a busy work week so luckily my friend Kayla was available to lend me her stylist skills and find me an outfit I loved! We proceed to join the group getting ready then head to the restaurant. Everyone arrives before me because I took my friend Molly to get something we forgot from her house. I park and Molly runs in ahead of me while I’m getting my purse and stuff together. I walk in and all of my dearest friends are in the corner lined up with roses in their hands. At this point I still have no idea what is happening. I thought maybe this had something to do with “prom”. Then everyone starts handing me roses one by one with notes on them that say reasons why Michael loves me. I am starting to realize when my mom comes from behind the crowd to give me my last rose and I start tearing up because I’m so happy everyone I love is here with me for this. As I’m reading my last note I turn around to see Michael walk towards me in his tux with another rose. He gets down on one knee to ask me to marry him and I am so happy to say yes to forever with this incredible gentleman of mine! Getting to celebrate with so many loved ones and having them be a part of our special moment really made me the happiest I could be! I am so appreciative of Michael and all the ways he proves to me he’s the man for me. He somehow coordinated with over 20 of our closest friends, rented out the space where we first met and chose the ring I had been dreaming about. Absolutely everything was perfect, thought out, and considerate of what I wanted. I am so blessed to have a man that truly cares and listens to me and I am so excited I get to spend forever with him!
