While both playing basketball professionally in Luxembourg, Henry and Amanda met towards the end of 2020. During that period most restaurants were shut down and there was a curfew in Luxembourg. They had gone on a few hikes (where Amanda may have lied about the distance or just been lost) and had played cards with their friends/ teammates. They then went on a castle tour that Henry had been planning and invited Amanda to tag along. They went and saw various castles and sites throughout Germany and Luxembourg which somewhat began a new year's tradition. Since then, they have traveled the world together while playing the game they both love. This has led to many adventures such as castle hunting, skydiving, getting a puppy, exploring new places, and the best of all: falling in love. Through life's exciting moments, difficult moments, and everything in between, Henry and Amanda are happy to have found each other and become the best teammates in life. They look forward to continuing to build a life together and celebrating their love with family and friends.
Amanda had been planning a trip to Cairns, Australia for a final trip after their seasons ended. They had booked an excursion to scuba dive and snorkel at the Great Barrier Reef. Henry being an early riser has grown to enjoy watching a good sunrise. He had mentioned to Amanda how the sunrise in Cairns was one of his favorites that he has seen in his travels. Since it was Henry’s birthday and they had to be up fairly early for the excursion anyways, she agreed to go when he suggested it. After rolling out of bed early in the morning and walking to the down to the esplanade, Henry asked Amanda to grab something from the bag and when she turned back around there was an envelope on the railing. Inside the envelope was a birthday card. The template of the card that was “for a wife on her birthday.”. In this case he changed “on her birthday” to “on MY birthday”. He had written a letter expressing his feelings and sentiments that had accumulated up to this point and concluded with the words, "Will You Marry Me?" Amanda turned back from the dock where Henry was down on one knee. It was an easy YES.
It should be noted that there were also cut out and laminated pieces of paper with the same question in the envelope. Henry did this in case he decided to propose while scuba diving. Amanda was glad he did not for concerns of drowning. It was an amazing day.
