Our Story
How We Met
Aidan and Maggie met through the Gold Star Marching Band in 2018, though they did not begin their friendship until 2019 when they were both on the leadership team. Through many section leader meetings, their friendship started to grow. In the summer of 2020, Maggie asked Aidan to coffee, and he agreed! Afterwards, many of their outings included going on walks on the trails around Fargo. After many months of going on walks together, Maggie finally asked Aidan what their relationship was, to which Aidan replied “I thought we were dating?” The rest, is history
The Proposal
If you know Maggie, you know that she adores the International Music Camp. She was a longtime camper turned staff member, and holds IMC near to her heart. She invited Aidan to come with to the Spring Clean Up event in mid May for a weekend. Maggie’s one goal was to show Aidan a glimpse of IMC and why she loves it so much.
The weekend started out rough with a flat tire less than a half hour in to the four hour drive. Maggie was feeling a bit defeated going into such a fun weekend by delaying their arrival at camp. All was well, and they did make it there. They then spent the weekend cleaning staff and faculty housing, taking in the scenery, and enjoying each other’s company.
On their final day, Sunday, they were walking to breakfast on one of the main paths on camp. Aidan began asking Maggie if she remembered their first date. “Yes! We used to go on walks all over town together.” was her reply, and of course, was wrong. Aidan reminded her of their first date when they got coffee. “I was so sunburnt! It was the most uncomfortable I’ve been in my life. Everything hurt and was so red.” again, not where Aidan was going with the question. With one final prompt, he asked about the child at the coffee shop. Finally remembering, the memory of a little kid running over and asking if they were married started the laughs between the two. Standing in the middle of the IMC camp, Aidan then got down one one knee and asked Maggie if she would marry him.
