Our Story
How We Met
Josiah met DeAnna in middle school at a homeschooling group. He always tells her that when he first saw her across the room he thought “she is the prettiest girl I have ever seen!” DeAnna has lived in Florida her whole life, but Josiah moved to Florida from Illinois when he was 12. They were both in the same friend groups for awhile and then started dating when she was 14 and he was 15. They are now high school sweethearts and it is so evident that one of the reasons the Lord called his family down here was to bring these two together! Fast forward 4.5 years later, they have gotten through high school, medical traumas, becoming adults, and some generally hard times together. They have persevered through things in their dating period that most married couples may never have to experience in a lifetime. But Jesus is good and He keeps His promises! They are now ready for the next chapter and to commit themselves to one another by walking into this sacred covenant; the very thing God has called them towards since the beginning - marriage! Jesus knew what He was doing when He put these two together. You will never meet a sweeter, stronger couple more equipped for marriage and meant for each other!
The Proposal
Josiah took DeAnna to Grace Beach in New Smyrna Beach, Florida for an evening walk. They paused on a grassy sand dune to sit down and talk. Josiah started the proposal with reminiscing on how much they had been through together the past year and started making jokes about how she wouldn’t want to show off her promise ring anymore since it’s so “old.” He got down on one knee and proposed with the new ring. After she said yes, they had a stranger take their photo. The stranger told them that they had just gotten engaged by a turtle nesting and Josiah didnt even plan that! It was a memorable day!
