Let's get married!
Our Story
How We Met
We met during Freshman year of college, September 1, 2013. Amanda came over to my dorm room with a friend in pursuit of stealing beer for a different party. Before the party, we had never met or talked to each other, but my roommate invited her friend to come over that night. While the party commenced I found this beautiful girl across the room, I just had to introduce myself to. After quickly realizing she was born and raised in Massachusetts (AKA Red Sox/Patriots fan) I had to do some justice and set her straight. The subtle jabs about sports quickly became amorous advances, and we talked for the rest of the night. I knew I was hooked after talking to Amanda for the next couple of days and the rest was history. From college parties to studying abroad in Switzerland together, we were inseparable. Now, 11 years later we can't wait for this next chapter. - Joe
The Proposal
Most weekends, we try to escape the city and go camping in the mountains. A weekend in August 2023 seemed no different than others. We were heading up to Winter Park, just us two and Tucker. We drove what felt like the scariest drive ever (Berthoud Pass) and went for a nice little swim in Lake Grandby. Our afternoon quickly became a scramble as there were not many first-come, first-served campsites still open for the evening, I thought for sure we were going to have to head back home. However, luck was on our side as the last campground we checked had the most perfect campsite nestled right up against a stream. As we settled into the evening with a roaring fire and some pasta for dinner, Joe and I had one of our check-ins. We talked about where we saw ourselves in 5 years, what our goals were, what we appreciated in each other as partners, etc. Little did I know, what felt like a fairly common conversation for us turned into a marriage proposal. Joe got down on one knee right in front of the fire and asked me to marry him. This might be cliché, but it was truly the easiest "yes", even Tucker quickly came over and licked my hand after - his sign of approval. Now, Winter Park holds a very special place in both our hearts. - Amanda
