Our Story
How We Met
We met at a networking happy hour and were introduced by one of my co-workers. Brent asked me out the next day but I ended up turning him down, twice, because my coworker had a crush on him, before finally agreeing to go out on a date. I really made him work for it, and by the end of our first date I sat in my car and thought "Well dang, I think I like Brent!" From there we started talking every day and spending as much time together as we could.
The Proposal
We went to stay at a cabin at Mt. Rainier for the weekend. It was the same cabin we had stayed at for our first weekend getaway together and we were looking forward to doing some hiking and enjoying the fall weather. It was a stormy and windy weekend and the power had been out for a few hours as a big tree had fallen on the power line earlier that day. We were sitting on the couch, in front of the fireplace, in the dark, and I was crying about something because I was pregnant and emotional. Brent got down on one knee and proposed, which caught me completely off guard as I had told him I didn't want to get engaged until Sawyer was at least 6 months old. We proceeded to drink sparkling cider and admire the ring, which was absolutely stunning and perfect, as we enjoyed the fire. Brent then proceeded to tell me all about the proposal he was planning on doing the next day in the middle of a field during our hike.
