Our Story
How We Met
Matt and I met a little over a year and half ago on Bumble. It took two weeks of conversations, but Matt finally asked me out for dinner. We went to Spitfire for our first date, and by the looks of each other, we were complete physical opposites. But despite this difference, conversation flowed easily over dinner, and every time we were together after that. For over a year now we have been making each other smile, laugh, and we continue to surprise each other in the best ways. Our first date was natural and fun, and there is no doubt for us that our future will be too!
The Proposal
Matt proposed to me at Itasca State Park. It was our first time going there, but just one of our many weekend trips together. Matt booked a quaint and cozy little cabin in the woods and told me that he wanted to take me to a special hiking spot, a place he used to take his dog Harley. When we parked at the location, unbeknownst to me, his nerves were starting to kick in. He commented that the park seemed busy, and seemed flustered when we came across a couple meditating at his special spot. He told me that we should go further up the path, in hopes that they would be gone by the time we circled back. When we got to the water, Matt had us stop to take a photo. I was waiting a short distance away from him, and watched as he rummaged through his bag. When he retrieved his phone, he was very flustered, messing around trying to get it to stand upright. Since it was taking some time, and it seemed he couldn’t get the self-timer set, I suggested we move on, but he was instant that we needed to take the photo. When he finally got it set up and came over to me, I realized that it was video, and my heart started pounding. At this point, I had a bit of a suspicion, so I asked him why it was recording, and he told me that it wasn’t. I of course saw that it was though, and noticed that he was shaky, so I asked what was wrong with him. I’m sure he wasn’t expecting that, so he nervously said some words about me, and about us, and then I finally caught on to what was happening. When he got down on one knee and proposed I immediately said yes, and the rest is history!
