Our Story

How We Met

Travis and I met online through Tinder. I (Audrey) had downloaded the app as a joke while at Top Golf with my friend Sydney. Upon matching on the app, Travis and I immediately had a strong connection. We chatted frequently over the phone for a few weeks before finally meeting in person, on Travis’ 25th birthday at The Max Club in Omaha. I was definitely nervous since meeting a stranger at a club was wildly out of my comfort zone. I brought one of my friends along "just in case". However, Travis immediately made me feel safe and cared for. Our conversation was so fun and easy. We danced and sang all evening long. Feeling bold, I invited Travis back to my apartment, simply because I did not want the most amazing night of my life with this remarkable man to end. We stayed up until 7:00 am talking and laughing. I know it sounds corny, but after just one night together, I knew I had met my future husband. I told my family and friends that he was the ONE! After everyone met Travis, they agreed that we were a perfect match!

The Proposal

The day that we became engaged was a warm Saturday in March, only two days before Audrey's 24th birthday. I had recently come back from Texas, where I cared for my uncle who had just had surgery. I was gone for three weeks, which was the longest time that Audrey and I had been apart since we first started dating. I was originally going to wait until we had gotten to know each other fully before getting engaged, however while in Texas I had a reality check. I missed being in Audrey’s presence, and although it had only been three weeks, it felt like an eternity! (I'm being dramatic, but hey it was long for me so it is what it is!) I realized that I never wanted to be apart from Audrey again, so I decided right there and then that I would propose when I got back home. I began reaching out to her sisters and friends to get ideas on how I should propose. I would like to give a special thank you to Kaitlyn and Sydney, as they really helped me come up with the perfect proposal. Soon after, I took Audrey's dad, Rob out to dinner at Blue Sushi Sake Grill to talk about life, family, goals, and lessons learned from his experience as a husband and father. I also asked Rob for Audrey's hand in marriage that evening and he said with open arms, "Welcome to the family!". Leading up to the proposal, Audrey being the sleuth that she is, started getting suspicious of what I was doing and began telling her friends and family that she had a feeling I was going to propose! Little did she know, they were all double agents and were working with me to keep it a surprise. However, Audrey trusted her instincts and was positive that I was going to propose because of a short text that Rob sent her. Therefore, I had to think quickly to out smart her. The day of the proposal, I took Audrey shopping for a new dress, paid for her to get a relaxing manicure and we spent the entire day together. Then right before I took her to the place where I was going to propose, we went wedding ring shopping! A genius move on my part, because it threw Audrey completely off. Next, we drove to the Lewis and Clark Monument in Council Bluffs, which overlooks both downtown Omaha and Eppley Airfield. As we watched the sunset together, I popped the question! It was the perfect moment, and my best friend, Curtis captured it all on camera! As they say, the rest is history. I can't thank everyone enough who contributed to this memorable moment. I will forever be grateful to you for making this moment special for both Audrey and myself!
