Our Story
How We Met
We met through mutual friends, in 2022, at a time when neither of us was ready for a relationship. Flash forward to meeting number two, June 2023, and the sparks were undeniable. We went on a first date and have not looked back. We have shared great adventures together and are looking forward to a future full of many more adventures.
The Proposal
Amy's version:
We were in North Carolina for Darryl's dad's 85th birthday party celebrating with friends and family. It was also an opportunity for our families to meet. The day after the party we went for a walk around Rankin Lake with our friends Jeff and Deborah. On the walk we stopped at one of the lookout docks. Darryl and I were telling the story of how we met. When I turned around, Darryl got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I was so surprised and so happy he asked...I said yes! I look forward to future adventures with the love of my life.
Darryl's version:
We were in NC for my dad's 85th birthday celebration. But the proposal began months earlier for me. I casually coordinated having Amy's family in town for my dad's birthday celebration. Amy has been in the habit of walking every morning and was worried about missing too many days in a row while we were in NC. So, I suggested the morning after the party walk. I invited friends along and enlisted their help. It was a beautiful morning with beautiful scenery around the lake (a very picturesque setting). While Amy's back was turned, I gave Jeff and Deborah the signal, they started recording and I went into action. I am so happy she said 'yes' and look forward to sharing the future with this amazing woman.
