Our Story
How We Met
The first time I met Amber she was looking at me from across the dance floor. I had noticed her look my direction before, but this time I could tell she wanted to dance with me. I ran across the floor and slid the last few feet. I landed right by her side and we began to dance. It was spectacular. The song ended, I dipped her, and I immediately started looking forward to the next time I would get to dance with her. I would have to wait. Our first dance was right before Christmas and we wouldn’t see each other again until a Thursday night in January.
From the moment she walked in I knew I was going to dance with her. It took me a minute to make my move, but soon she was in my arms again. This time when the song ended I didn’t dip her. I didn’t want to give her any reason to think it was over. I let her get away once, I wasn’t going to let that happen again. We danced all night. When we finally stopped to talk it was already clear that we liked each other. Getting to know each other on the dancefloor first made it really easy to talk to her. I didn’t have to play it cool or impress her with my stories. It was open, honest, and direct from the very beginning. Just like our dance, I didn’t want it to end. We talked for hours. I was excited to find out that our connection was more than just dancing. We made a date for the very next night, and we have spent almost every day together since.
Telling people how we met is one of my favorite things to do. I don’t know anybody who started quite like us. Every day we add a little bit more to the story. In many ways we are still at the beginning. I am excited about our future together. So much of our story is still unwritten. I just know that we will be dancing, and I will never let her go.
The Proposal
On our trip to Vegas, we took a gondal ride at the Venetian. Surrounded by the sights of Venice, Itally while getting a proper tour from our Italian gondolier, Andy asked the couple sitting across form us to take a tiny video. He quickly slipped the ring on my finger, and said: "I can't get on my knee, (we were in seatbelts on a boat) I think this is the ONLY romantic place in Vegas. Will you marry me!?" and I replyed, "I will marry you!" After this, we continued down the canal and our gondolier sang us love songs in Italian! We then went prancing down the hallways of the Venetian and found a beautiful empty hallway with painted ceilings and danced together. We celebrated by getting a delicious brownie with a scoop of ice cream, covered in roasted pecans!
