Our Story

How We Met

You never know when you fall in love. Because as they say love happens at the most unexpected places and at unexpected times. Pretty sure you are familiar with the lines. Well.. it’s not wrong. Akshara has been an extrovert throughout her life and always been surrounded by family and friends. She loves adventures, dancing and meeting new people. Chris prefers his own quiet part of the world surrounded by only his closest friends and family. You’ll likely find him engrossed in his world of films, music and photography, maybe a bit more into videography these days.

Akshara and Chris met each other at Chennai Airport for the first time back in 2016. A few months prior to the meet, Chris had seen a post by Akshara in a college Facebook group looking for roommates. He decided to take the chance to ping her and ask her about it. It began as strangers to acquaintances travelling together from Chennai to New York.

The Proposal

As seasons changed and semesters passed, their friendship deepened, and they discovered a shared love for exploring the city, trying new cuisines, and enjoying each other’s company… also to annoy the hell out of each other (just kidding!!). The fondness grew with each passing year. It had been only a matter of time when they decided to tell their families about their love for each other. From then on, it was a rollercoaster of a journey with mixed emotions.

Through all the ups and downs, both of them never forgot to make travel plans together. On one such adventure to Alaska, Chris and Akshara were standing outside their van around 2.30 am under freezing temps (-30 deg C) when they finally caught a glimpse of the Northern Lights. It had been a dream come true for both of them as the whole experience was exhilarating. They both knew right then that no matter how many miles were between them or however many days they had to be apart, they just wanted to be together for the rest of their lives.
