The Dunbar House Inn & Event Property is located in the heart of the beautiful and historic gold rush town of Murphys, CA. Murphys is a popular travel & wedding destination due to its quaint small-town charm. The historic buildings that line Murphys' streets are filled with eclectic shops, fabulous wine-tasting rooms, and unique restaurants.
We provide a unique experience utilizing our gorgeous Historic B&B, gardens, and grounds to provide a fabulous weekend wedding getaway experience! Our beautiful 180-year-old Italianate-style estate offers the regal beauty and stately elegance of a time gone by. Each of our 6 unique rooms have been completely updated with modern amenities, yet still reflect the hotel's historic charm. Our historic B&B is a grand Victorian home that was originally built back in 1880. Our Italianette-style estate offers the regal beauty and stately elegance of a time gone by. A perfect backdrop to host an intimate wedding weekend with all your friends and loved ones! Each of our 6 unique rooms have been completely updated with modern amenities, yet still reflects the hotel's historic charm. Included in our package pricing is accommodations for 12 (6 rooms) for 2 nights.

Venue Rental Policies

  • Food Trucks: Allowed - We love out of the ordinary cuisine! Food Trucks are a cool way to do something a little different. All Trucks must submit the necessary health department licensing and insurance information. A full service wait staff is still required for the entirety of your event. We have found serving a truck's food "buffet style" is the most efficient way of making sure your guests receive their food hot and in a timely manner.
  • Sparklers: Allowed - We do require you to provide a metal bucket or receptacle (not plastic) filled with sand or water to extinguish the flames. Sparklers must be used in the space behind the Inn. We ask that they be left to extinguish for at least an hour before throwing them in the trash. Other fireworks are not permitted per city ordinance.
  • Rehearsal Dinners: Allowed - When you sign a contract to rent the venue for an event, it includes a 3 day rental span (Fri.-Sun. or 3 days during the week). Check in is 3:00pm the first day of the contracted time. You are welcome to utilize all the grounds and the inn (excluding the kitchen) for the entirety of your rental time with no extra charge. We can also provide catering for your rehearsal dinner if desired (for a fee), or you are welcome to bring in catering of your choice. Please note that any and all trash, cleanup etc. from the previous evening is the responsibility of the guests, as no waitstaff will be on hand to service the rehearsal dinner unless contracted otherwise.
  • Farewell Brunch: Allowed - We are happy to facilitate a send off brunch for you and your guests if desired. Brunch for the 12 guests of the Dunbar House are free with venue contract, and each additional person will be charged an additional fee. Please contact the Venue Manager for menu options and a detailed quote.
  • Pets: Considered Upon Request (restrictions or fees may apply) - All pets must be leashed, licensed and have proof of vaccination. Pets may not be left in rooms unattended after ceremony and must be attended and cleaned up after at all times. Pets are to be part of the ceremony only.
  • Open Flames: Allowed - All candles must be contained in votives and the flame must be at least 1.5” below the top of the container. Open flames are only allowed in the fire pit.
  • Bonfires/Fire Pits: Allowed - We have a fabulous fire pit that can be used at the request of the guests. Please let the staff know 24 hours prior to desired use time so we can make sure to have it well stocked and ready for use. No children may be left unattended near the fire pit/open flame, and must be supervised at all times.
  • Outside Catering: Allowed
  • Outside Alcohol: Allowed - Alcohol may only be brought in by the host of the event and must be served by licensed and bonded bartenders. We also require a one-time event insurance policy complete with liquor liability.
  • Smoking: Allowed - Smoking is allowed outside the inn in designated areas, please be sensitive to other guests and smoke away from crowded areas.

Overnight Accommodations Policies

  • Early Check In: Considered Upon Request (restrictions or fees may apply) - If room is available before your contracted check in time, you are welcome to check in early. Please check with front desk staff upon arrival.
  • Late Check Out: Allowed - A late check-out fee of $20/ per room will be charged after 12:00pm.
  • Pets: Not Allowed - Pets are allowed with prior authorization to be part of the ceremony of the wedding day only. No pet-friendly rooms are available at the Dunbar House Inn, but please check with our front desk, we do have a couple of pet-friendly rooms in our network of vacation rentals for your convenience.
  • Bonfires/Fire Pits: Allowed - We have a fabulous fire pit that can be used at the request of the guests. Please let the staff know 24 hours prior to desired use time so we can make sure to have it well stocked and ready for use. No children may be left unattended near the fire pit/open flame, and must be supervised at all times.
  • Smoking: Not Allowed - Smoking is allowed outside the inn in only designated areas, please be sensitive to other guests and smoke away from crowded areas.
