Our Story

How We Met

Relationships are special.

Cheyenne always knew that she would only ever date with the intent of marriage, thus dating through school never made much sense to her. When she met Alex through working together during their high school years, something felt different for her. Alex was kind-hearted and funny. He had, and still has, the personality that would make everyone feel important and valued. He could hold a conversation with anyone about anything... even if he had not a clue on what they were talking about (ha). He was special.

We started talking more and becoming friends. For months, we would send messages back and forth that felt like novels. We wanted to share every detail of our life with each other. Our messages got to be SO long, we would only message each other once or twice a day because it took at least 15-20 minutes to write back and carefully craft our messages (it seems so silly now!).

For Alex, it was a bit scary because he knew he was about to ask the general manager's daughter to be his girlfriend. Cheyenne was nervous because she hadn't really entertained relationships in the past. However, some relationships are just meant to be; they're God-ordained. On the day Alex asked Cheyenne to be his girlfriend, he packed a backpack full of different things like cheez-its, flowers, wooden pencils, etc.. All in which would be used to ask Cheyenne to be his girlfriend through a series of puns incorporated into a nice love letter on why he wanted to date her. To finish the evening off, he played "Priceless" by For King and Country, pulled out of his handy-dandy backpack a bouquet of roses, and asked Cheyenne to be his girlfriend.

Since that night, we have grown to love each other more and more every single day for the past 6 years. Serving each other and others. Learning to communicate and understand each other better. We have been each others best friends and have travelled to so many places together. It's been the best 6 years of our life!

The Proposal

Leading up to the proposal, Alex and Cheyenne had planned to go on a hike to Stone Mountain with both of our closest siblings, Karina and Sierra. Cheyenne asked Alex what he was wearing hiking and he said "jeans and a button up"... and Cheyenne said she was wearing athletic clothes. Alex replied "Really? Why? That's like one step above wearing pajamas!" --- so Cheyenne knew something was being planned!

At Stone Mountain, we walked to a beautiful waterfall running down the beautiful stone mountain. We had to jump a few rocks and wade through water, but we were located directly in front of the waterfall at this point. Alex said "look over there" and so Cheyenne did. When she turned around, Alex was on one knee and asked her to marry him! She said "YES!" He then proceeded to just look at her and smile, and she said "Aren't you going to put the ring on my finger?" He responded, "Oh, yeah!." Cue the giggles... :)

We had the BEST hype people. There was a group of friends higher up on a rock beside the waterfall that watched the proposal happen, and once Cheyenne said "YES" - there was a lot of clapping and cheering!
