Our Story
How We Met
Thanks to our social parents, we were introduced to each other in the mountains of Colorado. Our first conversation was on E Chair in Breckenridge, and it was "all downhill from there."
When we finally found ourselves in the same zip code again a year later, we met up for a hike in Brattleboro, VT. Brett invited Kari to head up to northern Vermont a day later to spend Labor Day Weekend at a friend's camp. Kari initially declined the offer, but made a spur of the moment decision to drive three hours to spend a weekend on a remote lake with someone that she had met twice in her life. We unpacked our bags and quickly noticed that we shared an appreciation for the finer things in life with our identical toiletries: Dr. Bronner's, Tom's Toothpaste, and Burt's Bees lip balm. Our bond quickly grew that weekend, and come Monday we couldn't wait to spend more time adventuring together.
The Proposal
We share an immense appreciation for the outdoors: lakes, mountains, oceans, forests, and everything in between. Throughout our relationship, we have taught each other things that are important to us. For example, Kari got Brett hooked on cycling, and Brett taught Kari how to waterski. We spend as much time outside as possible, and on weekends in the summer that often includes sailing or water skiing. On a sunny Sunday in July, we headed out for a ski, float and swim sesh on Spofford. Brett poured up a round of his famous Margaritas, and we put our feet up to enjoy some sips and sun before skiing. Just before suiting up, Brett got on one knee!
